Aasaman Nepal (ASN) ‘A pioneer organization for education and nutrition’, is one of the leading Terai based NGOs led and managed by social activists since its establishment in Dhanusha, Janakpur in 1999. ASN has been engaged in developing and implementing programs aimed at protection, promotion and fulfillment of child rights in Nepal. Currently ASN has been working in 17 districts under 6 Thematic Areas as: Education/Child Protection, Women Empowerment, Livelihood/ Natural Resource Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, Health/ Nutrition and Good Governance.
Aasaman Nepal in partnership with KNH is implementing the “Listening to the Experts Project in Nepal focusing on Madhesh and Bagmati province. The project aims to work with different levels of stakeholders including children, NGOs and policy makers and government authorities to ensure the participation of working children and their voices to be heard and recommendations are reflected in the relevant policy documents.
The Aasaman Nepal is looking for self-motivated, result oriented, and hard-working Nepali citizens for the following position:
Position: Advocacy Officer
Roles and Responsibility
The general responsibility of the Advocacy officer is to support to Project coordinator and Manager on planning and implementation and reporting of advocacy initiatives of the Listening to the expert’s project. The specific responsibility includes,
- Responsible for the Planning, implementation and reporting of the project activities
- Responsible for the coordination with relevant stakeholders for the implementation of the project
- Responsible for the identification of advocacy issues on participation of working children (child labor) for the different level stakeholders
- Draft and prepare advocacy plan on participation of working children
- Responsible for the designing lobby and advocacy message and conduct advocacy initiatives
- Conduct and facilitate lobby and advocacy meeting with local, provincial and federal level government and stakeholders based on the identified advocacy issues and plan
- Support Project Manager and PC to drafting and documentation of project outcome, consultations reports, IEC materials and other publication
- Conduct and facilitate lobby and advocacy meeting with Local Governments, NGOs and other stakeholders
- Represent and participate in the meeting with stakeholders and networks and raise the issues of participation rights of the working children
- Documentation of reports, learning and achievements of the lobby and advocacy meetings
- Perform other task as assigned by PM and Executive Director
Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Law, Development studies and other related disciplines
- Minimum three years of experience on advocacy and coordination on child labor, child participation or other related development project in I/NGO
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Nepali.
- Languages: Strong command of Nepali, English (oral and written) and local language preferred/required.

Age Limit: Candidates between 21 years to 45 years are only eligible to apply for the above position, depending upon the nature of job they will carry.

Monitor staff and partners’ and ensure adherence to Aasaman Nepal’s policies and internal procedures, protocols, Aasaman Nepal’s code of Conduct with special attention to Safeguarding Standards and Procedure, Case Handling Framework, Child Protection and Do No Harm Policies. Also, immediate reporting and redress of any complaints and issues based on its severity.
