Enterprise Development Advisor Kathmandu is opened jobs for applicants. The Enterprise Development Advisor (EDA) is responsible to provide technical and advisory support in all aspects related to enterprise development in FCA’s Nepal Country Programme including but not limited to:

  • developing guidelines and pathways for successful enterprise development for marginalized women in Madesh and Sudurpaschim provinces
  • analyse existing project of FCA Nepal and provide input for strategic improvement
  • provide technical input to concepts and proposals in FCA’s business development
  • capacity development of FCA staff and its partners staff 
  • visit project sites and provide on-site support
  • document successful cases under FCA livelihood projects and
  • private sector engagement. The EDA will act as the focal person from FCA side for a study on nontraditional1 and digital livelihoods.

Main tasks

Capacity Development

  • Assess the capacity gaps of FCA and its partners staff on enterprise development for youth and women.
  • Develop training package, roll out and train partner staff on enterprise development.
  • Develop training package for financial and business literacy for marginalized women, roll out and train partners’ staff.
  • Contextualize the guideline on career guidance and counselling in close coordination with SAC advisor.
  • Lead market research and value chain analysis.
  • Analyse the internal and external TVET practices and provide recommendation to NEPCO.
  • Private Sector Engagement
  • Explore and develop private sector engagement plan.
  • Identify private sector actors for linkage with FCA’s enterprise development work and develop and maintain relationship with these actors.
  • Business Development
  • Provide technical and advisory support on concepts and proposals on livelihood and women’s economic empowerment including non-traditional enterprises for women.
  • Prepare concepts and idea papers to present to various donors in close coordination with Programme Development Coordinator.
  • Learning and Knowledge Management
  • Collect, review and analyse current research, best practices, and trends from external actors as well as best practices from NEPCO’s current projects and prepare recommendations for NEPCO.
  • Assess FCA’s current women economic empowerment model and analyse itsstrength and areas of improvement.
  • Develop pathways for women’s economic empowerment through enterprise development.
  • Coordination, networking and representation
  • Maintain networking and coordination with partners and other relevant stakeholders including private sector actors.
  • Coordinate with SAC relevant advisors.
  • Collaborate with team member of country office and SAC.
  • Represent FCA in different relevant external forums.
  • Competence, experience, skills, knowledge needed
  • Minimum master’s degree in business management or similar discipline.
  • At least five years of experience in enterprise development projects. Programming experience focused on women’s economic empowerment will be an added value.
  • Experience in collaboration with private sector will be an added value.
  • Experience in capacity development of partners and/or micro entrepreneurs.
  • Understanding of Human Rights Based Approach and Do No Harm.
  • Understanding of crosscutting issues such as Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), Climate Action, and conflict sensitivity.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure in an organized and responsive manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, communication, negotiation and networking skills and team-working attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Nepali.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, graphics presentations and other relevant applications.
  • Responsibilities and independence
  • Problem solution requires finding solutions independently. Work is done mainly independently according to goals, plans and general instructions, and it may include financial and supervisory responsibility.
  • The tasks require independency and sometimes responsibility in preparing problem solutions, and also making decisions. The position holder works as a specialist of a sub-sector of function. The work may include demanding responsibility for operations, finances or personnel.

  • Frequent travel to field locations, particularly Sudurpaschim and Madhesh Provinces.
