Purpose of Role
- This position contributes and assists the successful implementation of the Improvement of Hygiene Behaviour in Schools and Health Care facilities (IHBSH) project based in project site by leading the project support.
- The role will require the individual to develop strong and productive working relationships with WaterAid Nepal (WAN), Partners and Government stakeholders for the effective delivery of the project.
Responsibilities
Project Support activity and delivery:
- Contribute the implementation of IHBSH project in selected Municipality/Rural Municipality of Siraha.
- Take responsibility to support and coordinate with Project Manager, Project implementing partners, District and Municipal authority especially Education Section and Health Section for the implementation of the project
- Works with Project team for clarity in technical endeavours of the project.
- Supports the team to engage at local level discussions through working with local governments, key stakeholders and different implementing partners.
- Overall responsible for project results related social endeavours, WASH in schools, WASH in Health Care Facilities (HCF) in targeted Schools and Health Care Facilities, respectively.
- Responsible for field level partner monitoring in coordination with project team
- Support the team to ensure systems are in place in project management to track progress against agreed results and achievements
- Support project team for preparing report as per WAN’s PMER procedure and Donor requirement.
- Support Project Manager to analyses the monthly variance by reviewing the project expenditure against the monthly budget and expenditure against the overall project budget.
- Assist Project Manager in developing project plans, budget and its timely expenditure and reporting.
- Support in conducting Research (Formative Research, Baseline Survey, endline Survey, and its review and feedback
Partnership management: Jobs in WaterAid Nepal
- Support partner in formulating project plan and its implementation.
- Capacity building of the partner in delivering the project activities.
- Assist PMEL Coordinator to support in reporting/recording as per WAN’s PMER Procedure and requirement.
- Conduct field visit to support partner in delivering project activities.
- Support and facilitate partners in documentation of case stories, best practices and learning and its compilation
- Support project manager in drafting monthly, quarterly, yearly project progress reports
- Facilitate partners and consultants in conducting hygiene training and its timely monitoring and supervision
- Support, monitor and supervise partners work on WASH infrastructure work
Accountability Promotion:
- Support Implementing partner for promoting Community Feedback and Accountability Mechanism (CFAM) in the project intervention area.
- Ensure accountability tools viz. Public Hearing, Public Audit is being practiced in the project intervention.
- Support to generate case story and document the Voices from the Field, Best practices, Stakeholders verbatim.
Safeguarding
- Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and Child Protection policies and procedures and the Global Code of Conduct (CoC)
- Supports Partner employees in understanding WaterAid’s Safeguarding policy.
Person Specification
Essential
- Bachelor’s degrees in relevant discipline.
- Experience of 3 – 5 years in similar role with exposure in WASH programme particularly in Schools and Health Care Facilities.
- IT skills particularly Office Package.
- Experience of working with, supporting and building capacity of local organisations
- Good communication skills in written and verbal English and Nepali, with good interpersonal, negotiating and persuasive skills and experience
- Excellent skills in writing, producing excellent monitoring and programme / project reports for wider audience
- Commitment to WaterAid’s values and a working style that reflects these.
Desirable
- Experience in report writing and research activities
- Excellent skill in community consultation, organising group discussions with different and diverse group of people, field observation, interviewing with people and facilitating meetings internally and externally.
- Ability to work flexibly, to manage varying competing priorities under your own initiative, meet strict deadlines
- Experience of managing and supporting staff or volunteers

Description
Responsibilities
- Support in organising events and oversee all factors of travel and events (venue bookings, security clearance, travel arrangements as set out in the work plan specially for the Project.
- Guide for travel authorization and travel claims in line with travel entitlements for staff, consultants, and visitors, ensuring that the travel arrangement follows WAN’s rules of most direct route keeping WaterAid’s concern on value for money in mind.
- Support to prepare contracts of various services to the project team.
- Manage procurement processes, contacts with suppliers and contractors, and prepare payments and receipts.
- Attend to walk-in visitors and inform/communicate to respective staff as appropriate
- Ensure Fixed Assets procured from WaterAid funds are adequately safeguarded including maintaining of Fixed Asset Register and insurance coverage.
- Preparation of voucher, follow-up for supporting document and sign off process for payments within required timeline. For each payment, maintain compliance as per WAN Accounts Manual. Ensure proper recording of all financial approvals, invoices/receipts/bills and proper documentation of all expenditure of the projects.
- Custodian of petty cash of Field Office.
- Payment of petty cash expenses as per the WAN policy and maintain cash book on real time basis.
- Carry out periodic cash count.
- Ensure timely payment of per diems, advance release to project staff, districts, payment for utilities/telephone bills and photocopying.
- Deduction of tax on each payment as per the prevailing tax act of Nepal Government. Timely and accurately deposit of deducted tax.
