Located in the middle reach of Mai River in the Ilam district of the eastern part of Nepal, Mai Beni Hydropower Project is a Run-of-River type hydropower project with an installed capacity of 9.51 MW. The Project is the pilot project of Urja Developers Pvt. Ltd., which embarked on construction in May 2018. The components of the project lie between an elevation of 490m and 645m above mean sea level. All the major components of the project are within a 5km distance from the Mechi highway. The construction of all project components and installation of overall Hydromechanical components and Electromechanical equipment have been completed. Likewise, the testing and commissioning of overall project components have been completed. The trial operation of the power plant is expected to commence by September 2021.

- Construction of entire project components including Diversion Weir, Undersluice, Intake, Gravel Trap, Approach Canal, Settling basin, Headrace pipe, Headrace Tunnel, Surge pipe, Penstock pipe, Powerhouse, Switchyard, Tailrace, and River Protection works is completed.
- Installation, Testing, and Commissioning of all Hydromechanical Component and Electromechanical Equipment are completed.
- Construction of Transmission line is completed including its Testing and Commissioning.
- Construction of Permanent camp for the accommodation of Project Operation Team is completed and the respective team has mobilized to site.
- Landscaping works in the Powerhouse and Permanent Camp area are in progress.
